Gnarled, twisted old Zinfandel vines were the inspiration behind the Medusa wines logo, named for the snake-haired figure of Greek mythology.

Winemaker, Rob Mondavi Jr., and his partners, wife Lydia Mondavi, Patti McKiernan and Geoff Whitman, are committed to crafting single-vineyard, old-vine Zinfandel from some of California’s best appellations. The current releases hail from four different prime growing regions: Pig Pen Vineyard from the Deaver Ranch in Amador County; Lover's Lane Vineyard in Mendocino; Hoodoo Creek Vineyard in Lake County; and the Creekside Block of Bar 49 Vineyard in Chiles Valley in northeast Napa Valley. Each of these sites contributes distinctive and intensely concentrated character for these truly terroir-driven Zinfandel expressions.
